[Sterling, Kansas] – On June 13th, 2023, Nicholas W. Sowers officially filed his candidacy for the position of Rice County Sheriff. With nearly two decades of dedicated service to the community, Sowers brings a wealth of experience, a deep-rooted commitment to the county’s safety, and a vision for a stronger, more united Rice County.

Born and raised in Rice County, Sowers understands the unique challenges and opportunities that the community faces. He has spent the majority of his life within the county, aside from a brief period serving with the Pratt County Sheriff’s Department. During his time in law enforcement, Sowers earned recognition as a Drug Recognition Expert, showcasing his dedication to addressing the complex issue of drug-related crimes.

Sowers holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management, providing him with valuable skills in organizational leadership and resource management. His background extends beyond his individual achievements, as he has actively contributed to training other organizations and collaborating with various agencies and community groups to promote shared goals.

As a candidate for sheriff, Sowers is dedicated to enhancing community safety and building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the people they serve. He firmly believes in upholding the Constitution of the United States and ensuring that the rights of every Rice County resident are protected and respected.
